Antique button earrings - mother of pearl, steel-cut and brass button with Imperial Jasper

Lucky Stars - Antique mother of pearl, steel-cut and brass buttons with imperial jasper set in sterling silver

We've all seen button jewelry before.  Some are as simply done as stringing stacks of colorful no-shank buttons.  I love all kinds, but I have many antique buttons in my collection that are works of art in and of themselves.  I set them like jewels and accompany them with semi-precious gemstones.  I also keep the shank on those that are shanked so they retain their button value.

The pair below didn't last long in my shop.  They featured sterling silver buttons!  Each button was hand engraved by a jeweler as they are not exactly alike.  I believe I have a couple more

I haven't worked much with Picasso marble, but I don't know why not.  I am particular about what cabs I purchase though and only like those with high pictorial content.  This pair fit that bill.

I've got more antique button earrings available in my shop.  Last year I met a new client that loved my antique button earrings so much she bought a pair and had me create a couple pairs for her from some buttons in her own collection.  That was a lot of fun, as I always like seeing more buttons!!  Button, button, who's got the button?!

“She opened up the glass jar she kept spare buttons in and began sorting through them. It was like handling bits and pieces of the past—buttons from loved ones’ dresses and suits and coats carefully gathered up and saved for future use. She had inherited many of the buttons from her mother and grandmother, even her Great Aunt Maggie. Each woman adding to the collection, like curators of a family museum. Now what would happen to them?”
