Jewelry Care

Turquoise and Silver Artisan Necklace by Honey from the Bee

American Beauty (SOLD) - one of my Artisan Necklaces

It's not difficult to keep the jewelry you love in its precious form, but different stones, pearls and metals require different care for storage and cleaning. Some stones are more porous or softer than others and some metals may have received a patina to enhance the jeweler's design.

To keep cleaning down to a minimum, always apply makeup and perfume prior to donning any jewelry item. Store each jewelry item separately to avoid scratching a softer stone/pearl with a harder stone or metal.

To avoid damaging the jewelry you love by cleaning it with inappropriate methods or chemicals, you may find the following link useful in identifying the best way to care and clean your valued pieces. You will also find tips for storage that will insure a long life for your gems.

Additional information you might want to read is contained on this about.com link:  Jewelry Care.  You'll find multiple links depending on whether you're looking for how to take care of your gemstone or pearl jewelry or costume jewelry.
