"Starry, starry night
Flaming flowers that brightly blaze
Swirling clouds in violet haze
Reflect in Vincent's eyes of china blue
Colors changing hue
Morning fields of amber grain
Weathered faces lined in pain
Are soothed beneath the artist's loving hand"
Such a beautiful sad song by Don McLean that shared the artist's (Van Gogh) struggle with depression, but who created so many joyful works.
The faceted pyrite in this piece along with the sprinkles of pyrite in the lapis lazuli remind me of twinkling stars in a deep blue sky. They also remind me of the twinkle of sunlight on the lake's surface at our home at certain times of the year. Both bring me happiness!
