One of my favorite jewelry design techniques is mixing mediums. It's fun and surprising when I find, like in this case, a gorgeous artist's ceramic cabochon that completes the story with a fossil that's 65 million years old! Catch a Wave is this beauty's name.
I love ammonites. The spiral design is timeless. I like this description: The Spiral is a sacred symbol that represents the journey and change of life as it unfolds; taking a labyrinth-like passage that leads to Source. The spiral symbol can represent the consciousness of nature beginning from its center expanding outwardly.
Ammonites are fossils of sea creatures that were similar to the Nautilus of today. They fossilize and with minerals can become opalized or pyritized for example.
Ingredients:
* Ceramic cabochon by Lisa Peters Russ
* Pyritized Ammonite (negative of the fossil) - by Gary Wilson
* Sterling Silver
Included is a 20" sterling silver chain that I've put a patina on. The patina picks up the blues in the cabochon.
The pendant is 3 7/8 inches.
