Lampwork: Meital
The ocean and beach are often inspirations in my work, but it was the under the sea challenge by the Blogging Business Artisans and a blog hop inspired by a photo of gathered shells by Jennifer on Art Jewelry Elements that got me playing with my beads again.
"Bead cap": Wondrous Strange
The focal pendant took shape early on with the very cool ceramic starfish I used as a bead cap on a very sea worthy lampwork bead, but I fiddled around with a lot of different ideas for the necklace part. I ended up choosing some Tagua nuts from Costa Rica that a friend had given me as they were the perfect color, very light, but smooth to the touch.
Dagger beads that shimmer represent seaweed and kelp bobbing in the waves.
I thought it was fun to find that the beads I normally use for flower buds looked like starfish when reversed. Their opalescent blue glow had me thinking that I could also use them for jelly fish with tiny strands of seed beads dangling. When I get a chance I'll be making those for earrings!
This necklace is available!
Hope you are having a perfectly wonderful summer day!
