Do you ever sit and wonder about the choices you've made and others have made for you and how they've affected your view of what inspires you? What feeds your soul?
For my whole life my home has been in states with an ocean as a border. I was born to a former Navy man (pilot on aircraft carriers) and a Mom that was the daughter of an Annapolis graduate that served in WWII in the South Pacific.
I spent most of my childhood on the east coast between New York and Virginia. We spent many childhood vacations up and down the east coast from Nags Head to Melbourne. Until seeing Jaws I was as comfortable frolicking in the surf as I was picking up seashells along the shore.

Then as a young adult I found myself on the west coast living under the California sun. Couple that with some years in Washington, trips to coastal countries around the world, and fishing trips with my husband and it's no wonder I'm inspired by the sea!
I've never had the desire to live in the desert, but I have friends that just love it. I do see the beauty in it, so a brief trip is interesting, but all it does is make me feel dry from the inside out. Give me a water view with big trees and I can almost hear my soul slurping it in.
"Men go abroad to wonder at the heights of mountains, at the huge waves of the sea, at the long courses of the rivers, at the vast compass of the ocean, at the circular motions of the stars, and they pass by themselves without wondering." Saint Augustine
