The cooler breeze in the air today reminds me that the summer days are numbered. My mind goes back to when those seemingly endless weeks of summer vacation suddenly came down to one. Fortunately I think we've still got a lot more warm weather to come! At least I hope so. There's a lot to love about Autumn with its stunning foliage and the crisp air requiring cozy sweaters and hot cider.
I've been wanting to pair my fine silver acorn cap with Lisa Niven Kelly's lampwork bead for a few years now, but for some reason I never really liked what I came up with. This weekend I had success! This is the last focal I have of Lisa's. She no longer does glass bead making. Maybe that's why I had such a difficult time using it? There's something about acorns that I just love. It's kind of like eggs - just a great shape. Don't you find their shape wonderful? I used a carved beach granite stone by Gary Wilson in my Art Nouveau piece below:
